THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC TO RELIEVE THE SUFFERING OF ANIMALS IN NEED OF CARE AND ATTENTION BY REASON OF SICKNESS, MALTREATMENT, POOR CIRCUMSTANCES OR ILL USAGE AND, IN PARTICULAR, TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN RESCUE HOMES OR OTHER FACILITIES FOR THE RECEPTION, CARE, PROTECTION AND TREATMENT OF SUCH ANIMALS, OR IF THE TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION THINK FIT OTHERWISE FOR THE PROMOTION OF KINDNESS AND PREVENTION OR SUPPRESSION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
