FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, TO PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF BERWICK-UPON-TWEED AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, IN PARTICULAR BY: 1) DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING LOCAL PROJECTS DESIGNED TO REDUCE EMISSIONS OF GREENHOUSE GASES AND MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY PROMOTING: A. COMMUNITY GROWING FOR LOCAL FOOD PRODUCTION, B. THE USE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND MORE ACTIVE FORMS OF TRAVEL, C. THE CARRYING OUT OF POLLUTION MONITORING IN THE TWEED ESTUARY, D. DOMESTIC ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND LOW CARBON FORMS OF HEATING, E. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MORE CIRCULAR ECONOMY BASED ON REDUCING, REUSING, RECYCLING, REPAIRING, AND REMAKING, SO AS TO MINIMISE WASTE DISPOSAL. 2) ADVANCING EDUCATION ABOUT AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND HOW THE ADVERSE IMPACTS CAN BE MITIGATED AND REDUCED.
