Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: (A) THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY BY: I) UNDERTAKING RESEARCH INTO AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE DIVERSITY AND INTERSECTIONALITY OF THE OLDER LGBT+ COMMUNITY AND THE DISCRIMINATION THEY MAY FACE, TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT MORE APPROPRIATE DELIVERY OF SERVICES TO THIS COMMUNITY; II) PROMOTING ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS, PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER. (B) THE RELIEF OF LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER WHO ARE IN NEED BY REASON OF AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR OTHER DISADVANTAGE, IN PARTICULAR (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY: I) PROVIDING ADVICE, RESOURCES, SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE TO LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER; II) RAISING AWARENESS OF ISSUES FACED BY LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER, AND ADVOCATING FOR THEIR ISSUES; III) ALLEVIATING ISOLATION AMONGST LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER BY BUILDING AND MAINTAINING COMMUNITIES OF SUPPORT; IV) PROMOTING AND UNDERTAKING RESEARCH FOR THE PURPOSES OF EVIDENCING AND TACKLING THE PARTICULAR DISADVANTAGES FACED BY LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER, AND DISSEMINATING THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH; V) PROVIDING OTHER CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING THE SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND DISCRIMINATION EXPERIENCED BY LGBT+ PEOPLE AGED 55 AND OVER. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE OBJECTS, "LGBT+" MEANS ANYONE WHO IDENTIFIES AS LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL OR TRANSGENDER AND INCLUDES OTHER RELEVANT GENDER AND SEXUAL MINORITIES, AND "SOCIALLY EXCLUDED" MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF AGE OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER IDENTITY .
