Charitable objects
SCHOLARSHIPS OR GRANTS 1. TO BE AWARDED BY THE LEA TO BENEFICIARIES UNDERTAKING A FULL-TIME COURSE OF STUDIES AT ANY UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, OR OTHER INSTITUTION OF FURTHER EDUCATION. PROVIDED THAT PREFERENCE SHALL BE GIVEN TO BENEFICIARIES ENGAGED IN OR ARE ABOUT TO UNDERTAKE, AN APPROVED FULL-TIME COURSE OF STUDY FOR A FIRST DEGREE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER THE AWARDS TO BE KNOWN AS "THE JOSEPH CLIFFORD SCHOLARSHIPS. ANY RESIDUE OF INCOME TO BE APPLIED 2(A) IN AWARDING BURSARIES OR MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE TO ENABLE BENEFICIARIES TO TRAVEL, TO PURSUE THEIR EDUCATION. (B) IN PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, OUTFITS, CLOTHING, TOOLS, INSTRUMENTS OR BOOKS TO HELP BENEFICIARIES ON LEAVING COLLEGE, A UNIVERSITY OR ANY OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION TO PREPARE FOR, OR TO ENTER, A PROFFESSION, TRADE OR CALLING. (C) IN OTHERWISE PROMOTING THE EDUCATION INCLUDING SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL TRAINING OF BENEFICIARIES. 'BENEFICIARIES' MEANS PERSONS OF EITHER SEX WHO HAVE NOT ATTAINED THE AGE OF 25 YEARS WHO ARE ATTENDING, OR HAVE AT ANY TIME FOR NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR, THE HYDE COLLEGE OF FURTHER EDUCATION, PREFERENCE BEING GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE ATTENDEN EVENING CLASSES AND WHO ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
