Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO, TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN SOUTH-WEST ENGLAND AND SUCH OTHER PARTS OF ENGLAND AS THE TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME DECIDE, ARE: TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF, AND PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH OF, ADOPTIVE PARENTS AND ADOPTED CHILDREN THROUGH THE PROVISION OF SUPPORT AND SERVICES DESIGNED TO REDUCE FAMILY ISOLATION, INCREASE KNOWLEDGE OF TRAUMA AND OFFER MUTUAL PEER-BASED SUPPORT, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY: A) SUPPORT AND TRAINING TO ADOPTIVE PARENTS, AND THE FRIENDS, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY NETWORKS AROUND ADOPTIVE FAMILIES; B) SUPPORT TO EXISTING COMMUNITY PEER-LED ADOPTER GROUPS; C) SIGNPOSTING TO, AND DEVELOPMENT OF, RESPITE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADOPTIVE FAMILIES; D) GUIDANCE TO ASSIST IN THE EDUCATION OF PROFESSIONALS WHO SUPPORT ADOPTIVE FAMILIES; E) ACTIVITIES FOR ADOPTIVE CHILDREN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EXTERNAL ORGANISATIONS; F) SELF-CARE OPPORTUNITIES TO FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS; G) ADVOCACY SERVICES FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE THE TERM ‘ADOPTIVE PARENTS’ INCLUDES THOSE WHO HAVE ADOPTED CHILDREN, THOSE PREPARING TO ADOPT CHILDREN AND THOSE WHO HAVE JOINED AN ADOPTIVE FAMILY SUCH AS STEP-PARENTS.
