THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION AND HELP RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OF PEOPLE (MOSTLY REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS) SPECIFICALLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY FROM ERITREA AND SURROUNDING COUNTRIES IN THE NORTHEAST OF ENGLAND BY • INCREASING OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS, TO ENABLE THOSE PROVIDERS TO ADAPT SERVICES TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF THAT COMMUNITY. • PROVIDING PEER SUPPORT AND OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT BUILD PEOPLE’S CONFIDENCE AND ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH THE WIDER COMMUNITY. • PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING, SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL EVENTS INVOLVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
