Charitable objects
APPLICATION OF YEARLY SUM BEING NOT MORE THAN ONE-THIRD OF THE NET ANNUAL INCOME OF THE FOUNDATION IN PROVIDING SUCH SPECIAL BENEFITS OF ANY KIND NOT NORMALLY PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY FOR USWORTH NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL AND WASHINGTON SECONDARY SCHOOL AS MAY FROM TIME TO TIME BE AGREED UPON BETWEEN THE SCHOOLS GOVERNORS AND THE COUNCIL. PROVIDED THAT THE SECRETARY OF STATE MAY, ON THE APPLICATION OF THE COUNCIL, APPROVE IN WRITING THE APPLICATION IN ANY YEAR OF A SUM IN EXCESS OF THE SAID ONE-THIRD FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS.OTHER EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS - 1) THE RESIDUE OF THE SAID NET INCOME OF THE FOUNDATION SHALL BE APPLIED BY THE COUNCIL IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS :- A) AWARDING TO BENEFICIARIES EXHIBITIONS, GRANTS OR MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES TENABLE AT ANY SECONDARY SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, OR OTHER PLACE OF LEARNING APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL . B) PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, OUTFITS, CLOTHING, TOOLS, INSTRUMENTS OR BOOKS TO HELP BENEFICIARIES ON LEAVING SCHOOL, A UNIVERSITY OR ANY OTHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT TO PREPARE FOR, OR TO ENTER, A PROFESSION TRADE OR CALLING. C) AWARDING BURSARIES OR MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES TO ENABLE BENEFICIARIES TO TRAVEL, WHETHER IN THIS COUNTRY OR ABROAD, TO PURSUE THEIR EDUCATION. D) MAKING PAYMENT TO THE GOVERNORS OF USWORTH NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL AND WASHINGTON SECONDARY SCHOOL TO BE APPLIED BY SUCH GOVERNORS IN THE AWARD OF PRIZES TO PUPILS AT THE SCHOOLS, SUCH PRIZES TO BE CALLED " MEMORIAL PRIZES ". E) PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ENABLE BENEFICIARIES TO STUDY MUSIC OR OTHER ARTS . F) OTHERWISE PROMOTING THE EDUCATION (INCLUDING SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL TRAINING ) OF BENEFICIARIES.(BENEFICIARIES MEAN PERSONS OF EITHER SEX WHO ARE ATTENDING USWORTH NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL OR WASHINGTON SECONDARY SCHOOL, WASHINGTON, IN THE COUNTY OF DURHAM AND WHO, OTHER THAN THOSE BENEFICIARIES WHO QUALIFY FOR BENEFIT UNDER SUB CLAUSE (D) ABOVE , IN THE OPINION OF THE COUNCIL ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
