INCOME TO BE DIVIDED INTO TWO EQUAL MOIETIES AND APPLIED AS FOLLOWS:-1) THE FIRST MOIETY IS TO BE KNOWN AS THE SCHOLARSHIP MOIETY,IT SHALL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO FURTHER PARTS AND APPLIED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER A) THE FIRST PART IN THE AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS, TO BE KNOWN AS FOUNDERS SCHOLARSHIPS, TENABLE AT ANY UNIVERSITY OR OTHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM WITH A PREFERENCE,OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL, FOR EITHER OF THE UNIVERSITIES OF OXFORD OR CAMBRIDGE. CANDIDATES FOR FOUNDERS SCHOLARSHIPS SHALL BE PERSONS OF EITHER SEX WHO HAVE NOT ATTAINED THE AGE OF 25 YEARS AND WHO ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE,IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER OF PREFERENCE- SUCH PERSONS AS ARE OF THE KINDRED AND NAME OF THE FOUNDER, SUCH PERSONS AS ARE OF THE KINDRED OF THE FOUNDER BUT BEAR A NAME OTHER THAN AKROYD,SUCH PERSONS AS ARE OR HAVE FOR NOT LESS THAN TWO YEARS AT ANY TIME BEEN RESIDENT IN ANY OF THE CIVIL PARISHES OF LONG MARSTON, HUTTON WANDESLEY OR ANGRAM. B)THE SECOND PART FOR THE AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS, TO BE KNOWN AS OPEN SCHOLARSHIPS,TENABLE AS AFORESAID. CANDIDATES FOR OPEN SCHOLARSHIPS SHALL BE PERSONS OF EITHER SEX WHO HAVE NOT ATTAINED THE AGE OF 25 YEARS, ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND WHO HAVE FOR NOT LESS THAN TWO YEARS AT ANY TIME ATTENDED ANY SECONDARY SCHOOL APPROVED FOR THE PURPOSE BY THE GOVERNORS IN THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA COMPRISING THE COUNTY OF YORK. 2) THE SECOND MOIETY IS TO BE KNOWN AS THE REMAINING MOIETY, AND TO BE DIVIDED BY THE GOVERNORS INTO FIVE EQUAL PARTS WHICH SHALL BE APPLIED AS FOLLOWS:- A) TWO SUCH PARTS TO BE PAID TO THE GOVERNORS OF THE BATLEY GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOUNDATION FOR APPLICATION BY THOSE GOVERNORS AS PART OF THE GENERAL INCOME OF THAT FOUNDATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE SCHEME FOR THE TIME BEING REGULATING THE SAME. B)THREE OF SUCH PARTS TO BE PAID TO THE COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS FOR APPLICATION IN SUCH MANNER AS THE COUNCIL SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT IN PROMOTING THE EDUCATION OF ANY STUDENT OR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY.
