I TO RELIEVE IN CASES OF NEED HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS PERSONS WHO HAVE RETIRED OR WHO HAVE BEEN MADE REDUNDANT AND ARE OVER THE AGE OF 50 YEARS RESIDENT IN NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE OR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD THEREOF. II TO PROMOTE THE PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH OF SUCH PERSONS.
