TO PROVIDE A LIBRARY WITHIN THE PARISH OF ROMALDKIRK FOR THE PURPOSE OF RESEARCH BY SERIOUS STUDENTS OF THE LOCAL HISTORY OF: (1) THE OLD PALATINATE OF DURHAM WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES EXISTING PRIOR TO 1847 INCLUDING CRAYKE, BEDLINGTONSHIRE, NORHAMSHIRE AND HOLY ISLAND WITH ISLANDSHIRE AND AFTER 1847 THE NEW COUNTY DURHAM BOUNDARIES AS WERE THEN CREATED NOTWITHSTANDING ANY SUBSEQUENT BOUNDARY CHANGES. 2] THE ECCLESIASTICAL PARISH OF ROMALDKIRK.
