TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLICBY PROMOTING FOR THEIR BENEFIT THE ACQUISITION, EXCAVATION, PERMANENT PRESERVATION & RESTORATION & DISPLAY OF:- I) NO 4 DOCK OR A PLACE OF HISTORIC INTEREST ON THE SITE OF THE FORMER BIRKENHEA IRONWORKS, II) HULL NO 290 (ALSO KNOWN AS CSS ALABAMA) & ANY ITEMS CONNECTED THERETO, III) ANY OTHER VESSEL OR VESSELS OF HISTORIC INTEREST PARTICULARLY THOSE WHICH HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH NO 4 DOCK OR OTHER DOCKS ON MERSEYSIDE, PROVIDED THAT THE AFOREMENTIONED SHALL BE OPEN SO FAR AS IS REASONABLY POSSIBLE TO ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC.
