Charitable objects
A PRIZE OPEN TO THOSE STUDENTS ONLY WHO HAVE BEEN ORIGINALLY ARTICLED TO AN ATTORNEY OR SOLICITOR OR FIRM OR ATTORNEYS AND SOLCITORS CARRYING ON BUSINESS IN LIVERPOOL AND HAVE PASSED NOT LESS THAN TWO THIRD PARTS OF THE ENTIRE PERIOD OF SERVICE UNDER THEIR ATICLES OF CLERKSHIP IN THAT TOWN. THE PRIZE SHALL BE GIVEN BY THE COUNCIL OF THE SOCIETY AFTER THE FINAL EXAMINATION IN MICHAELMAS TERM ONE THOUSND NINE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN, AND SO IN EVERY SUBSEUQENT MICHAELMAS TERM TO THE CANDIDATE WHO AMONG THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS DESCRIBED IN TE PRECEDING ARTICLE SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE COUNCIL BY THE EXAMINERS AS HAVING PASSED THE BEST EXAMINATION IN THAT TERM OR IN THE HILARY, EASTER OR TRINITY TERMS OF THE SAME YEAR, AND AS ENTITLED TO HONORARY DISTINCTION AND (SO LONG AS CANDIDATES ENTITLED TO HONORARY DISTINCTION ARE OR MAY BE GROUPED INTO THREE OR MORE CLASSES) IN THE FIRST OR SECOND CLASS ONLY. THE PRIZE SHALL NOT BE AWARDED TO ANY CANDIDATE WHO SHALL BE ABOVE THE AGE OF TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS ON THE FIRST DAY OF HIS FINAL EXAMINATION.
