TO ADVANCE THE STUDY OF AND RESEARCH INTO UNDERWATER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND TO SECURE THE WIDEST POSSIBLE DISSEMINATION TO THE PUBLIC OF KNOWLEDGE GAINED IN SUCH RESEARCH AND STUDY WITH A VIEW TO FURTHING THE PROPER ECONOMIC AND SOCIOLOGICAL USE OF THE OCEANS AND THE EARTH BENEATH THE OCEANS FOR THE BENEFIT OF MAN AND HUMAN LIFE AND HEALTH.
