TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC AND TO PROMOTE THE INCREASED AWARENESS AND APPRECIATION OF THE WORK OF JOHN RAY AND IN PARTICULAR TO ESTABLISH A BURSARY FOR STUDENTS STUDYING NATURAL HISTORY AT ANY UNIVERSITIES AND TO ENCOURAGE GREATER KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT MATTER RESEARCHED AND DOCUMENTED BY JOHN RAY WITHIN THE DISTRICT OF BRAINTREE.
