Activities - how the charity spends its money
HCUK works to raise awareness and to educate the public and the medical profession about heartburn, reflux, Barrett's Oesophagus, oesophageal adenocarcinoma, cardia and related diseases. It provides facilities for the detection and treatment of such diseases, promotes research into causes, prevention, treatment and cure. It supports people suffering from symptoms and also post-operative.

THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THE FOLLOWING OBJECTS (THE 'OBJECTS'): THE RELIEF OF SICKNESS OF PERSONS SUFFERING FROM HEARTBURN, REFLUX, BARRETTS OESOPHAGUS, CARDIA AND CARDIA AND OESOPHAGEAL CANCER AND RELATED DISEASES AND THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR THE DETECTION AND TREATMENT OF THE SAID DISEASES AND BY PAYMENT TOWARDS THE MAINTENANCE AND RUNNING COSTS OF SUCH FACILITIES; AND/OR THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC AND MEDICAL PROFESSION IN ALL ASPECTS OF HEARTBURN, REFLUX, BARRETTS OESOPHAGUS, CARDIA AND CARDIA AND OESOPHAGEAL CANCER AND RELATED DISEASES INCLUDING, BY PROMOTING RESEARCH INTO ITS CAUSES, PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND CURE; AND SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE OBJECTS CONSISTENT WITH THE ABOVE WHICH THE TRUSTEES IN THE ABSOLUTE DISCRETION DETERMINE.
