Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF FOEL ARE: (A) THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY IN THE DISTRICT OF ECCLESFIELD THE CITY OF SHEFFIELD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY THE PROVISION OF A COMMUNITY LEADING LIBRARY AND ASSOCIATED SERVICES. (B) TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY IN THE DISTRICT OF ECCLESFIELD N THE CITY OF SHEFFIELD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINION BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACULTIES IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS (2) IN FURTHERANCE OF THIS OBJECT FOEL SHALL HAVE THE POWER (BUT NOT THE OBLIGATION) TO MANAGE A BUILDING OR ANY SUCH BUILDINGS AS IS NEEDED FROM TIME TO TIME FOR THE PURPOSES OF PROVIDING A COMMUNITY-BASED LIBRARY TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE SAID AREA OF BENEFIT. IN FURTHERANCE OF THIS OBJECT FOEL SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO ASSIST OR COOPERATE WITH ANY CHARITY, STATUTORY BODY, COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE OR ORGANISATION WHOSE AIM AND OBJECTIVE INCLUDE THOSE OF FOEL AND IS IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS OBJECTS. (1) NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF FOEL FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008
