Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO CONSIDER AND IF CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE UNDER ALL OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR SOLE ABSOLUTE AND UNFETTERED DISCRETION THINK TO PAY ALL OR PART OF THE COST BY WAY OF GRANT OR LOAN EITHER TO THE PETITIONER OR DIRECTLY ON HIS OR HER BEHALF TO THE PROVIDER OF THE SERVICE OR GOODS, THE SUBJECT OF THE APPLICATION A) FOR THE RELIEF OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP IN PARTICULAR THE CURRENT OR PAST MEMBERS OF A FREEMASON’S LODGE OF ESSEX (“ESSEX FREEMASONS”) AND THEIR WIDOWS AND CHILDREN AND OTHER DEPENDENTS (“THEIR DEPENDENTS”) BY MAKING GRANTS OF MONEY OR PROVIDING OR PAYING FOR ITEMS AND FACILITIES TO ASSIST IN SUCH RELIEF. B) AND FOR THE RELIEF OF SICKNESS AMONGST ESSEX FREEMASONS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS WHO ARE IN FINANCIAL HARDSHIP BY ASSISTING IN THE COST OF (I) INITIAL CONSULTATION BUT NOT FURTHER OR OTHERWISE AND TO PROVIDE IF IT IS REASONABLE TO DO SO (IN THE SOLE ABSOLUTE AND UNFETTERED DISCRETION OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE TIME BEING) THE COST OF TRAVEL FOR AN ESSEX FREEMASON AND/OR HIS DEPENDENTS TO ATTEND SUCH CONSULTATION AND TO VISIT AN ESSEX FREEMASON OR HIS DEPENDENT IN HOSPITAL OR A NURSING HOME OR SIMILAR INSTITUTION (II) CARE OF ESSEX FREEMASONS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS SUFFERING FROM ILLNESS OF ANY DESCRIPTION AND (III) ITEMS EQUIPMENT AND/OR OTHER FACILITIES NEEDED FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING RELIEF C) PAYMENT TO AN ESSEX MASONIC CHARITABLE FESTIVAL. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE AND NOTHING SHALL BE IMPLIED THAT ANY APPLICATION ALTHOUGH FALLING WITHIN THE OBJECTS WILL BE PAID IN WHOLE OR IN PART
