Dewsbury Community Outreach is a group of Christians from various local churches who have come together to help the vulnerable and less fortunate in our community by providing practical, emotional and spiritual support in a loving and caring environment. We are especially focused on helping those who are lonely, homeless and marginalised.

Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: 1.1 THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, HARDSHIP, SICKNESS AND DISTRESS AMONG NEEDY, VULNERABLE AND DESTITUTE PERSONS ANYWHERE AND IN PARTICULAR IN THE TOWN OF DEWSBURY. 1.2 TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE IN HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS AS A RESULT OF POVERTY, CRIMINALITY, MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE MISUSE AND ADDICTIONS BY SUCH MEANS AS THE TRUSTEES FROM TIME TO TIME MAY THINK FIT INCLUDING SIGNPOSTING TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WHERE APPROPRIATE. 1.3 TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION AND RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF THOSE AFFECTED BY SOCIAL ISOLATION, LONELINESS, HARDSHIP, SOCIAL EXCLUSION OR SICKNESS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PROVIDING SAFE MEETING SPACES; FACILITATING CREATIVE AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES; AND PROMOTING THE SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT. 1.4 FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF GOOD HEALTH AMONG THOSE WHO ARE RETIRED, UNEMPLOYED OR HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS, THROUGH I) NURTURING AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO LIVE PURPOSEFUL LIVES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THEMSELVES AND THE COMMUNITY, II) FACILITATING AND ENCOURAGING SKILLS SHARING, AND THE LEARNING OF NEW SKILLS THROUGH HELPING WITH COMMUNITY BASED PROJECTS SUCH AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL SEE FIT AND III) IF APPROPRIATE BY PROVIDING SUPPORTED LIVING ACCOMMODATION WHERE STRUCTURED LIFE SKILLS CAN BE DEVELOPED. 1.5 THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN SUCH WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES FROM TIME TO TIME MAY THINK FIT. FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLAUSE 1.3: 'SOCIAL ISOLATION' IS AN OBJECTIVE MEASURE OF THE NUMBER OF CONTACTS THAT PEOPLE HAVE. ITS ABOUT THE QUANTITY AND NOT THE QUALITY OF RELATIONSHIPS. 'LONELINESS' IS A SUBJECTIVE FEELING ABOUT THE GAP BETWEEN A PERSON'S DESIRED LEVEL OF SOCIAL CONTACT. IT REFERS TO THE PERCEIVED QUALITY OF THE PERSON'S RELATIONSHIPS. 'SOCIALLY EXCLUDED' MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF ONE OF MORE OF THE FOLLOWING FACTORS: RETIREMENT, UNEMPLOYMENT; FINANCIAL HARDSHIP; BEREAVEMENT OR OLD AGE; DISABILITY OR ILL HEALTH (PHYSICAL OR MENTAL) SUBSTANCE ABUSE OR DEPENDENCY INCLUDING ALCOHOL AND DRUGS; RELATIONSHIP AND FAMILY BREAKDOWN; POOR HOUSING (THAT IS HOUSING THAT DOES NOT MEET BASIC HABITABLE STANDARDS); CRIME (EITHER AS A VICTIM OF CRIME OR AS AN OFFENDER REHABILITATING INTO SOCIETY).
