Charitable objects
RESIDENTS OF THE HOMES SHALL BE AGED POOR PERSONS OF GOOD CHARACTER AND MORAL WORTH BELONGING TO THE INDUSTRIAL OR AGRICULTURAL CLASSES WHO SHALL HAVE BEEN RESIDENT IN THE TOWNSHOP OR CIVIL PARISH OF POOL FOR A SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD NEXT PRECEEDING THE DATE OF APPOINTMENT AND SHALL BE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THEMSELVES BY THEIR OWEN EXERTIONS; PREFERENCE SHALL BE GIBEN (A) TO OLD AGE PENSIONSERS AND (B) TO PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED AT THE WORKS OF B.S.&W. WHITELEY LTD. OF POOL BUT THE LAST NAMED PREFERENCE SHALL ONLY OPERATE SO LONG AS ONE OF THE FIRST TRUSTEES OR A MALE DESCENDANT OF ONE OF THEM HAVING THE NAME OF WHITLELEY IS A DIRECTOR OF THE SAID COMPANY
