Activities - how the charity spends its money
The aim of the Charity is to improve primary education outcomes in India. Historically it worked in communities in Gujarat and focused on school improvement programmes. Building on this valuable field experience, the Charity now focuses on strengthening educational systems at the policy level by working with the education departments of state governments in India.

3. THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY (THE OBJECTS) ARE: 3.1 TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AMONGST CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS IN INDIA 3.2 TO RELIEVE POVERTY AND TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE GOOD HEALTH OF PERSONS LIVING IN INDIA 3.3 TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC URBAN AND RURAL REGENERATION IN AREAS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEPRIVATION (AND IN PARTICULAR IN INDIA) BY ALL OR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MEANS 3.3.1 THE RELIEF OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP 3.3.2 THE CREATION OF TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES BY THE PROVISION OF WORKSPACE, BUILDING AND/OR LAND FOR USE ON FAVOURABLE TERMS 3.3.3 THE PROVISION OF HOUSING FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF HOUSING IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR OR IN CHARITABLE OWNERSHIP PROVIDED SUCH POWER SHALL NOT EXTEND TO RELIEVING ANY LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES OR OTHER BODIES OF A STATUTORY DUTY TO PROVIDE OR IMPROVE HOUSING 3.3.4 THE MAINTENANCE, IMPROVEMENT OR PROVISION OF PUBLIC AMENITIES 3.3.5 THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE OR THOSE WHO BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABLEMENT, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES, HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES. 3.3.6 THE PROVISION OF HEALTHCARE AND CHILDCARE FACILITIES 3.3.7 SUCH OTHER MEANS AS MAY FROM TIME TO TIME BE DETERMINED SUBJECT TO THE PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE CHARITY COMMISSION IN ALL CASES PROVIDED THAT SUCH OBJECTS CONTAINED IN THIS CLAUSE 3..3 ARE IN THE OPINION OF THE CHARITY, INCIDENTAL OR ANCILLARY TO THE PROMOTION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES FOR THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS IN INDIA.
