DECLARATION OF TRUST MADE 18 JULY 1878
Charitable objects
UPON TRUST FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF SUCH PERSONS IN HOPTON AND ITS VICINITY AS SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME ASSEMBLE THEMSELVES TOGETHER IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS IN CHURCH FELLOWSHIP FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTAKING OF BREAD AND WINE IN REMEMBRANCE OF HIM AND FOR THE PREACHING AND TEACHING OF GOSPEL OF GOD AS CONTAINED IN THE BIBLE SUCH PERSONS HOLDING THE ETERNAL BLESSEDNESS OF THE SAVED AND THE EXTERNAL EXISTENCE AND SUFFERING OF THE LOST THE EQUALITY OF THE SON WITH THE FATHER AND THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND TO PERMIT THE SAID PREMISES TO BE USED OCCUPIED AND ENJOYED BY SUCH PERSONS AND FOR SUCH PURPOSES WHETHER RELIGIOUS OR CIVIL AS THE MALES BELONGING TO THE SAID ASSEMBLY IN ANY CHURCH MEETING SHALL BY ANY RESOLUTION FROM TIME TO TIME DIRECT OR APPOINT BUT IN CASE THE SAID ASSEMBLY SHALL CEASE TO MEET AND OF WHICH THE DISCONTINUANCE OF PUBLIC WORSHIP AT THEIR USUAL MEETING HOUSE FOR THE SPACE OF 12 CALENDAR MONTHS TOGETHER SHALL BE CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE THEN UPON TRUST FURTHER TO USE THE SAID PREMISES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREACHING THE GOSPEL OR TEACHING THE YOUNG IN HOPTON AND ITS VICINITY BY SUCH PERSONS AS THE TRUSTEES OR ANY TWO OF THEM SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME APPOINT AND IF THOUGHT FIT AS A RESIDENCE FOR ANY MINISTERS OR TEACHERS.
