THE OBJECTS OF THE WEST GALLERY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (WGMA) ARE: THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE PROMOTION OF THE ARTS IN PARTICULAR BY: (1) PROMOTING, SUSTAINING, AND INCREASING INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF, THE SACRED AND SECULAR MUSIC AND SONG OF BRITAIN AND ITS COLONIES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO WHAT HAS BECOME KNOWN AS WEST GALLERY MUSIC, FROM ITS DEVELOPMENT FOLLOWING THE RESTORATION OF THE MONARCHY IN 1660 THROUGH TO ITS DECLINE IN THE MID-NINETEENTH CENTURY AND SUBSEQUENT CONTEMPORARY REVIVAL; (2) ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SACRED AND SECULAR MUSIC AND SONG OF WEST GALLERY AND ALLIED TRADITIONS AND THEIR SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL CONTEXT IN BRITAIN AND ITS COLONIES; (3) SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING A REVIVAL OF INTEREST IN WEST GALLERY MUSIC BOTH NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. WGMA WILL ACHIEVE THESE OBJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL AND WITHOUT RESTRICTION WITH NO POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER PERSUASION. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORIZE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE WGMA FOR PURPOSES THAT ARE NOT CHARITABLE
