Charitable objects
THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS ARE RESTRICTED SPECIFICALLY, IN EACH CASE ONLY, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: (A)THE ADVANCEMENT OF RELIGIONS WHICH ARE RECOGNISED AS BEING CHARITABLE ACCORDING TO THE LAWS OF ENGLAND AND WALES AND IN PARTICULAR BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE FOREGOING BY MEANS OF ASSISTING IN THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE STRUCTURE, FIXTURES AND FITTING AND OTHER APPURTENANCES OF SUCH CHURCHES IN THE AREA OF CUMBRIA PROVIDED THAT ANY SUCH CHURCH IS MAINTAINED AS A PARISH CHURCH WITH REGULAR SERVICES NORMALLY HELD AT LEASE ONCE PER MONTH; AND (B) THE RELIEF OF POVERTY WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO ASSISTING THE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED PEOPLE OF KIRKBY STEPHEN AND SURROUNDING AREAS AND ASSISTING THEM AT ANY TIME IN CIRCUMSTANCES OF URGENT FINANCIAL NEED. 2.2 NOTHING IN THESE ARTICLES SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CHARITY FOR PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANY STATUTORY PROVISION REGARDING THE MEANING OF THE WORD "CHARITABLE" OR THE WORDS "CHARITABLE PURPOSES" IN FORCE IN ANY PART OF THE UNITED KINGDOM.
