Activities - how the charity spends its money
The original funds of the Trust were raised as a memorial to John (Jack) Travers Cornwell VC. A posthumous VC was awarded to John Cornwell, a 16 year-old boy sailor aboard HMS Chester at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. Charity Commission schemes in 1924 and 1928 established that the object of the Charity should be the provision of cottage homes for disabled and infirm sailors and their families.
