1. TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE IN ENGLAND AND ELSEWHERE THE STUDY AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE EXPLORER CAPTAIN JAMES COOK, R.N. 2. TO MAINTAIN AND PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE SCHOOL ROOM AT WATERFLL TERRACE HIGH STREET, GREAT AYTON AS A PLACE OF HISTORIC INTEREST ASSOCIATED WITH CAPTAIN COOK. 3. TO COLLECT AND PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC ARTICLES AND RECORDS OF HISTORIC INTEREST MANUSCRIPTS, BOOKS, PICTURES PHOTOGRAPHS AND OTHER OBJECTS RELAITING TO CAPTAIN COOKS LIFE AND WORK.
