TO RELIEVE SOCIAL DEPRIVATION AMONG PERSONS WHO MAY AT ANY TIME BE PREFERRED FOR ASSISTANCE TO THE MERSEYSIDE PROBATION AND AFTER-CARE SERVICE OR ANY SERVICE OR SERVICES THAT MAY HEREAFTER BE SUBSTITUTED FOR IT AND THE FAMILIES OF SUCH PERSONS (BEING IN NECESSITOUS CIRCUMSTANCES) IN SUCH WAYS AS THE COUNCIL THINKS FIT AND TO FURTHER AND PROMOTE THE STUDY OF AND RESEARCH INTO ALL ASPECTS AND METHODS OF RELIEVING SOCIAL DEPRIVATION.
