Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1) THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE OLD CHAPEL IN GOTHERINGTON AS A COMMUNITY FACILITY FOR THE BENEFIT AND USE OF THE INHABITANTS OF GOTHERINGTON, WOOLSTONE AND OXENTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS, INCLUDING USE FOR: (A) MEETINGS, LECTURES AND CLASSES, AND (B) OTHER FORMS OF RECREATION AND LEISURE-TIME OCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE, WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE INHABITANTS. 2) TO ADVANCE SUCH PURPOSES AS ARE CHARITABLE WITHIN THE LAWS OF ENGLAND AND WALES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF GOTHERINGTON, WOOLSTONE AND OXENTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY THE MAKING OF GRANTS TO CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE: • CHARITIES ARE ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. • VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION. VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DO NOT INCLUDE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR OTHER STATUTORY AUTHORITIES.
