THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT:
TO PROMOTE THE TEACHING OF THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE AND THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY
DELIVERING PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE CLASSES;
PROVIDING A LIBRARY OF BOOKS IN THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE; AND
ORGANISING CULTURAL EVENTS WHICH HELP INCREASE KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES AMONGST LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
