THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO RELIEVE THE DISTRESS AND SUFFERING OF PATIENTS, PARTICULARLY CHILDREN, ATTENDING OR ADMITTED TO ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY UNITS AT HOSPITALS, OR THE ASSOCIATED EMERGENCY SERVICES, IN PRESTON AND CHORLEY AND SURROUNDING AREAS BY PROVIDING SUCH EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES AND AMENITIES WHICH ARE NOT NORMALLY PROVIDED BY THE STATUTORY AUTHORITIES.
