(1) THE MAINTENANCE OF A CHRISTIAN MINISTRY IN WHITBY TO SEAMEN, SEAFARERS, FISHERMEN AND THE FAMILIES THEREOF BY THE PROVISION OF A READING ROOM, A CHAPEL LICENSED BY THE ARCHBISHOP OF YORK FOR WORSHIP IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DOCTRINES OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, AND IN SUCH OTHER WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES THINK FIT (2) THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF RECREATIONAL AND OTHER LEISURE-TIME FACILITIES FOR THE USE OF THE INHABITANTS OF WHITBY WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS
