The SIFD promotes and supports in various ways courses and other activites that encourage and facilitate study of international folk dance and music. It does so both by acting on its own behalf (arranging workshops, producing music and publishing a newsletter) and also by acting as an umbrella group for local classes and groups around Great Britain, to whom it offers support and practical help.
