TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY THE STUDY OF NATURAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES IN ALL THEIR BRANCHES AND ESPECIALLY TO PROMOTE THE STUDY OF THE FAUNA AND FLORA OF THE ROSSENDALE DISTRICT. TO ENCOURAGE THE STUDY OF SOCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL HISTORY OF THE LOCALITY.
