TO RELIEVE AGED, IMPOTENT AND POOR PEOPLE OF ALL CLASSES, ADVANCE RELIGION AND EDUCATION AND OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUNITY AND IN PARTICULAR TO HOUSE LONELY OLD PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE ON THEIR OWN, AND IN SO DOING TO PROVIDE A FOCAL POINT FOR THE GOODWILL AND KINDNESS OF NEIGHBOURS.
