TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE LIFE AND WORK OF JOHN POUNDS (1766-1839) AND HIS ROLE AS FORERUNNER OF STATE EDUCATION FOR ALL CHILDREN AND INSPIRATION FOR THE RAGGED SCHOOLS UNION (1844) IN PARTICULAR BY ERECTING AND MAINTAINING A FULL SCALE REPLICA OF JOHN POUNDS WORKSHOP WITHIN THE GROUNDS OF THE JOHN POUNDS MEMORIAL CHURCH GARDENS IN PORTSMOUTH, HAMPSHIRE AND MAKING ACCESS TO IT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AND THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE TO PORTSMOUTH SCHOOL CHILDREN WHO ARE IN NECESSITOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
